Collbran Auditorium

Originally the site of John Art Fitzpatrick’s Livery Stable, the Collbran Auditorium was constructed in 1905 for Dr. Zinkey by builders Coakley, Steve John (S.A.) Harris, Ernie Winston, and Kendall. The distinctive round roof rafters were assembled on the ground and lifted into place using two large hay derricks—a remarkable feat at the time.

Measuring 40 by 120 feet, it was one of the largest auditoriums built in the West. The original stage curtains were installed the same year it opened, and the first movies were shown in 1914.

Over the decades, this beloved community landmark has hosted countless events, including:

  • Dances and banquets
  • Movies and roller skating
  • Graduations and memorials
  • Plays, Chautauqua performances, and literary debates
  • The Stockman Ball & Banquet
  • Community meetings, parties, and more

Today, the Collbran Auditorium remains a cherished venue and is available to rent for both full- and half-day events.
